EXT. FURIOUS STORM - NIGHT
Lighting flashes through the heavy clouds to reveal a flying
chariot drawn by two white horses struggling through the
wild storm. The warrior in the chariot raises his shield and
sword fighting the elements. Swinging his sword cutting at
the rain and wind suddenly a tremendous bolt of lighting
hits exploding and a sword spins away flashing lost in the
storm and falling to earth.

EXT. DAY CITY STREET
A dark blue '65 Chevy SS turns the corner and drives down a
palm tree lined street in Galveston Texas. It stops in front
of an old home with an sign that says "Estate Sale" posted
in the front yard. Alex and Carrie get out of the car and
view the house.
ALEX
Man, cool old house.
CARRIE
It's beautiful.
Carrie and Alex walk hand in hand into the yard looking at
the flowerbeds and pointing out the the heirloom roses that
are blooming. They step up onto the porch and enter the
house.
INT. OF THE OLD CAPE COD HOUSE

ALEX
Yeah George Fisher lived here. He
ran the customs house here in
Galveston and later he was a Major
in the Texas Revolutionary Army.
CARRIE
He did very well for himself.
ALEX
Well yeah can you imagine all the
loot coming through here as the
ships came in, I mean Galveston
was THE port back then.
CARRIE
Furn-i-ture!
Alex and Carrie start combing through the all items in the
sale and see desks, tables, hutches full of fine porcelain,
figurines, paintings, lamps and old ornate cabinets full of
books. Alex begins looking at the books through the glass
doors, then opens the cabinet and pulls a volume out and
looks through the book. Behind him through the door comes a
man dressed in a dark expensive suit and sunglasses. He is
severe looking with dark hair clean features. He walks
directly to a case full of books and begins looking through
them one by one but keeping a close eye on everyone around
him as he peruses the books. Alex notices him looking over
his shoulder and back to the books. As the stranger looks
back, their eyes meet and for a moment the stranger seems to
appraise Alex and then breaks off, goes back to the books.
Alex thinking that is very curious looks back to his book
and replaces it back on the shelf.
ALEX
Carrie come here and look a this
book case.
CARRIE
Yes this is nice. You think that
it will hold all your books?
ALEX
I think it will. Looks big enough.
CARRIE
I love the carvings on it and a
fantastic finish.
Alex sees the woman who looks to be conducting the sale
talking to the stranger who is asking questions. They finish
talking and she glances around the room and Alex catches her
attention and she comes over to them.
ALEX
Excuse me what is the price on
this bookcase?

WOMAN
Well lets see. It should be here
on the case somewhere.
ALEX
Who is that man you were talking
to?
WOMAN
He introduced himself as Lars
Mogul. I think that he's German…
The woman looks over the case and opens the door looking
inside.
WOMAN
Yes here it is. $650 dollars.
ALEX
650? Well… what do you think
Carrie?
CARRIE
I think that's a pretty good price
but the one over there is in
better shape and it is fifty
dollars less.
WOMAN
Oh well let me check and see what
I can do on the price. I'll be
right back.
Alex and Carrie watch her walk to the rear of the house.

ALEX
Did you see that guy over there?
CARRIE
Yeah the euro-criminal look.
ALEX
Yeah, said she thought he was a
German. Looks like a thug out of a
movie.
CARRIE
He sure is going through the
books. I wonder what he looking
for?
The Woman walks into the room and approaches Alex and Carrie
passing Lars who is quickly searching the books.
WOMAN
I can match the price of the other
book case for $600.
ALEX
Okay I want it. What we do with
the books?
WOMAN
The books come with the case.

ALEX
All these books?
WOMAN
Yes.
ALEX
Take a check?
EXT. OLD HOUSE
We see two men loading the bookcase wrapped in blankets into
the back of a pickup truck. they jump into the truck and
Alex and Carrie pull out into the street and the truck
follows them down the street.
INT. ALEX'S HOUSE
Alex's house is a Craftsmen style home and we see that the
book case has already found a spot in the living room. Alex
and Carrie are sitting on the couch admiring the bookcase.
CARRIE
600 what a deal.
ALEX
Yeah I can't wait to go through
the volumes.
Carrie gets up and walks across the room.
CARRIE
Cup of tea?
ALEX
How about some coffee?
CARRIE
It's your house!
Alex gets up and is looking over the bookcase as Carrie is
making coffee in the kitchen. He runs his hand over the
carving and then pulls open the door and starts to pull the
books out sorting them on the coffee table. Carrie comes in
carrying two mugs of coffee.
CARRIE
Here you go.
ALEX
Thanks sweet.
They begin look at the books.
CARRIE
So how are things at the University?
ALEX
I'm teaching a new course next
year, Medieval Literature. But I'm
glad I'm out for the summer.
CARRIE
Nice vacation. I'm stuck teaching
freshman Astromony again.
The evening wears on and Carrie finishes up her coffee. She
leans over gives Alex and long kiss. They lay back on the
couch and start necking. They lay in each others arms on the
couch and admire the bookcase.
CARRIE
I really need to get going. I
enjoyed the estate sale.
ALEX
Yeah it was fun.
CARRIE
Not to mention the books.
They walk together to the front door. Alex kisses her and
watches her walk out to the car. Carrie calls to Alex from
the car.
CARRIE
Night sweetie!
ALEX
Goodnight!
Alex closes the door and goes back into the living room.
INT. LIVING ROOM

Alex comes in and sits on the couch looking at the stacks of
books on the coffee table. He pours himself a bit of brandy
into his coffee cup from the bottle on the table and looks
up to the bookcase. He gets up with his cup to look closer
at the bookcase. Alex sipping his brandy admires the carved
of vines and fruit motif at the top of the case. Studying it
closely he notices a small part of the carved fruit that is
a little discolored. He sets his cup down on the coffee
table. He runs his hand across the wood ending up with
finger on the discolored grape in the carving. He presses it
there's a loud click and snap. He looks around at the side
of the case and finds nothing. He looks inside of the case.
There a secret panel has opened revealing a book hanging out
of the top the inside of the case. Alex pushes the secret
door open the rest of the way and gently pulls the book out
of its hiding place.
The book in his hands is an old bible heavily bound with
small stones mounted in each corner and ornate design on the
cover. He opens it and discovers it is a family bible. The
first few pages have recorded births and deaths written in a
foreign language that he doesn't recognise. As he looks down
the list he notices that the writing changes to English
toward the bottom of the page and last entry is "Dorde Ribar
death 1873". The bible is written in Latin. He carries the
book back to the couch and rests it on the coffee table and
peruses the book while sipping his brandy.
EXT. HOUSTON UNIVERSITY HISTORY DEPARTMENT
Alex walks along the sidewalk lined with trees to a stately
building. He passes through the door and we see the brass
plaque "History and Antiquities" he walks down the hall and
sticks his head into a office.

INT. OFFICE
ALEX
Morning. How are you today?
Looking up from the stack of papers on the desk is a older
man in his late 60's who looks very academic. His name is
Samuel Southworth.
SAM
Ah! Alex, how is our scholar this
morning?
ALEX
I'm excited. I have something here
I want you to look at.
Alex swings the backpack off his shoulder and zips it open
and removes the book that is wrapped in a cloth. He hands it
to Sam who carefully unwraps the book.
SAM
My goodness where in the world did
you find this? It's quite
beautiful.
ALEX
I bought this bookcase from a
estate sale in Galveston and when
I got it home I found a secret

it.
SAM
Incredible!
Sam opens the volume and starts to look through the pages.
SAM
By the looks of it was printed in
the late 1600's in Germany. Yes,
definitely German. Interesting.
The names in the bible look to be
Slavic or maybe Hungarian. I
believe I would guess that they
are Hungarian. The cover is
exquisite. I believe that these
are moonstones mounted on the
corners. You'll have to do a
little research to the find the
exact date.
ALEX
So the entries in the front are
written in Hungarian?
SAM
I believe they are.
ALEX
What do you think of the family
history there in the front?

SAM
Yes, Dorde Ribar. Hand me that
book with the red cover on the
second shelf, will you?
ALEX
Galveston. A history?
SAM
I have a hunch about Mr.Ribar.
Yes, look here! Dorde Ribar is
"George Fisher" in Hungarian.
ALEX
I was wondering about that.
SAM
The bible is made of the finest
velum.
Sam while examining the book he flairs the pages and they
both grasp when a image is revealed that was painted on the
edges of the pages.

What the hell!
SAM
I have heard of it but never have
seen it first hand. Its called
fore edge painting and is a way of
having a hidden illustration on
the book. Strange but this
illustration is not a biblical
scene. The figure with the sword
pointing toward these five marks
and these three words.
ALEX
Can you read them?
SAM
I think that it says "Follow"
something but I don't know much
Latin. I bet that you could find
some help at the library.
ALEX
"Insisto suus mucro." Sounds like
Latin. Sam thanks for the help.
SAM
Can I borrow it for a while? I
would love to study it.
ALEX
I'm curious about the painting.
I'll let you borrow it later.
Thanks Sam.
SAM
You're quite welcome. Tell Carrie
I said "hello".
ALEX
I will.
EXT. DAY -WIDE PASTURE WITH DISTANCE MOUNTAINS - 488 A.D.
Three riders galloping across a grassy plain, one figure
leads the group with the others flanking on each side just
behind. The leader is riding a black stallion.

EXT. - DAY - FOOT OF THE MOUNTAINS
Our three riders are now in single file picking their way up
into the mountains following a small trail.
EXT. - DAY - CRAGGY ROCK CLIFF FACE WITH LARGE CAVE
A large cave is above the three riders. All three are
looking up at the cave that has a small wisp of smoke
drifting up out the roof of it.
ATILLA
What is the hermit's name?
ULDAN
He has no name. The people call
him "Hermit of the Rocks".

BLEDA
They say he can tell any man's
future. Brother is this the reason
for you seeking him.
ATILLA
You both stay here. I will speak
to the old man alone.
Atilla begins his climb up the mountain side to the cave.
Uldan and Bleda watch his progress standing in front of the
tethered horses. They see him reach the cave and pause then
he passes into the darkness.
INT. LARGE CAVE
Atilla enters and sees a small fire flickering deep in the
cave. He walks into the cave looking at the objects hanging
in strange collections from the walls of the cave. He gets
close enough to make out a figure hunched down by the fire
sitting still as a statue gazing into the fire. The hermit's
face is very wrinkled, old and ancient. Atilla approaches
him slowly and kneels before him.
ATILLA
Father, greetings.
The hermit continues to gaze into the fire not acknowledging
him.
ATILLA
Please Father, I come to ask what
you see in my future.
The hermit slowly looks to him as if seeing him at last.
HERMIT
Wood. Put more wood on my fire.
Atilla finds a few pieces of wood and adds them to the fire.
They both sit and watch as the fire begins to build. The
hermit in a trance like stare looks into the fire and speaks
in a grinding voice.
HERMIT
Oh King… I see you will be a
mighty conqueror, the master of
many nations. I see you attacking
many countries and destroying city
upon city, the defeated calling
you the "The Fear of the World".
You gather vast riches in gold and
jewels. Despite all your power and
wealth true love will destroy you.
Death will find you. Death will
find you in the arms of a woman.

Atilla listens in stunned silence slowly drawing away from
the old hermit like the hermit himself threatens his death.
Atilla drops some gold coins into a wooden bowl and slowly
backs away from the hermit cautiously.
INT. LIBRARY
Alex is sitting at a table piled with books. He has several
laying open on the table in front of him.
ALEX
Insisto suus mucro. "Follow his
sword"
Alex flexes the books pages and looks again at the words
there then he studies the five marks. Alex picks up his
phone and dials it.
ALEX
Hey, what are you doing? You want
to go have lunch with me? Yeah. I
have a surprise for you too. No
I'm not going to to tell you.
You're just going to have to wait.
Okay see you there.

EXT. TABLE ON THE STREET AT CAFE
Alex is sitting and waiting for Carrie to arrive. He is
watching the people walking down the street. He's looking
cool in his shades and sipping his ice tea. Carrie comes
walking up the sidewalk and when Alex sees her he waves at
her. She waves back and hurries over and plops down in her
chair.

CARRIE
Well…where is my surprise?
ALEX
Man, cut right to it. No kiss, no
"hello" just "where's my
surprise?"
CARRIE
Sorry.
Carrie gets up and plants a big kiss on him.
CARRIE
Okay…so..

Alex puts his bag on the table and pulls out the old book
holding it up for her to see.
CARRIE
Oh my god! Was that in the old
bookcase?
ALEX
In a secret compartment.
CARRIE
How did you find it?
ALEX
I was looking at it and I saw this
piece of the carving that looked
weird and I pressed it and the
compartment popped open but that's
not the good part. I took it over
to Sam to get his opinion and he
found this!

Alex shows her the fore edge painting.

CARRIE
(gasps)
It's beautiful.
Carrie draws the book closer looking at the image.
ALEX
What do you make of the five marks
that the sword is pointing at?
CARRIE
Yes.. Alex these marks could be a
constellation. It looks familar.
ALEX
Do you know which one?
CARRIE
I'm not sure. I'll have to do a
little research.

EXT. LATE AFTERNOON PASTURE - 489 A.D.

A shepherd is driving a small herd of cattle along a trail.
As the herd moves out into a wide field it joins a larger
herd and the shepherd gathers the herd together for the
night. The shepherd sees a large bull walking and as it
walks along there is a trail of blood coming off the hind
hoof. The shepherd curious follows the blood trail. He sees
the trail stop at what looks like the point of a stone
sticking up of the ground. The shepherd tries to pick it up
and pricks his finger on it. He pulls his knife from his
belt and starts to dig the dirt from around the point. He
soon discovers that it is a blade, he tugs it from the earth
and a sword of great length emerges from the ground. He
begins to clean the dirt form the blade and grip. He
excitedly reveals gold, jewels and a shining blade and
begins running back toward Atila's camp.
EXT. ATILA'S TENT
The warriors standing guard at Atilla's tent see the
shepherd running toward them.
WARRIOR
Stop who approaches our lord's tent!
SHEPHERD
I have found a sword. It must be a
King's sword.
WARRIOR
Give the blade to me and I will
see if it is his sword.
The shepherd hands the sword to the warrior and the warrior
carries the sword to the tent.
INT. ATILA'S TENT
The interior of the tent is dimly lit with oil lamps. Atilla
is sitting at a table on a camp stool with two officers
drinking wine.
WARRIOR
My lord, a shepherd has come to
the camp with a sword that he says
is yours.
ATILLA
Bring the sword to me.
The warrior brings the sword into the tent and hands the
blade to Atilla grip first. Atilla takes the sword and looks
at the pommel and rubs it. He eyes grow wide with shock as
he reveals that the pommel was studded with jewels. He
examines the rest of the sword. Standing up he brings the
blade into the light and the jewels sparkle in the light. He
realizes that this is the most magnificent blade he has ever
beheld.

ATILLA
Summon the Armorer!
INT. CLOSE UP OF TABLE TOP
Close up of a butter knife that is shining and glinting and
a hand appears and picks it up. The hand scoops some butter
with the knife and starts to scrape it over toast.
PULL BACK FROM THE BREAKFAST TABLE
Alex and Carrie are sitting at a outdoor cafe and are having
a nice breakfast. A waiter approaches with the coffee pot.
WAITER
More coffee?
ALEX
Yes, please.
CARRIE
What did you find out about the
book?
ALEX
(sipping coffee) MMm. Well the
stones are ruby, garnet and as Sam
thought moonstone. The clothes of
the figure look like they are from
around the fourth century and
definitely royalty or a leader of
some sort. The inscription in the
painting means "Follow the sword".
CARRIE
You have been busy. So have I, I
think that the sword is pointing
to a constellation called "Draco"
the dragon. It was named in
ancient times as the guardian of
the doorway of heaven. The north
star was believed to be the
doorway so Draco guarded the north
star. But the odd thing is that
the configuration of the
constellation can only be seen
from eastern europe.
ALEX
Eastern europe?
CARRIE
Yeah, that is the location that
the stars can be seen in this
formation. Draco looks different
from different positions on earth.
ALEX
I wonder why the figure would
pointing to that?

CARRIE
People have been navigating by the
north star for thousands of years.
ALEX
I wonder…
Alex flexs the pages of the book in the opposite direction
and he discovers another fore edge painting. The painting is
of a church and a star blazing just above the cross on the
tower.
CARRIE
My god, another one.
ALEX
Yeah but this one is a place..a
church.
EXT. NEAR THE RIVER RHEIN
The sun is rising over the tents of a great army. The smoke
from the nights fires are smoldering and hundreds of columns
of smoke curl into the morning air. In the center of the
camp stand the royal tents with warriors standing guard at
the corners. A young girl approaches the tent and is
carrying a plater of food, closely followed by Uldan. They
both step into the tent.
INT. OF ATILLA'S TENT

ATILLA
Uldan come and sit. Here girl.
The girl rests the plater between them and backs away.
ULDAN
Lord did you sleep?
ATILLA
Yes. I had a dream. A dream where
I was flying over the enemy with
this sword in hand and we were
victorius in the field.
ULDAN
I was told of the sword. What did
the Armour find?
ATILLA
I have never seen him so scared
when I put it in his hands. When I
finally commanded him to speak he
told me that this is the lost
sword of the God Mars.
ULDAN
(laughing)
It is of the finest craft and a
beautiful sword there is no doubt
but Lord…the sword of Mars?

ATILLA
The proof will be in battle. We
will cross the river and attack
Rhoen.
ULDAN
As you command Lord.
Uldan rises and leaves the tent to spread the word.
EXT. HILL TOP OVER LOOKING THE PLAIN OF BATTLE
Atilla sits his horse amidst his Commanders and Lords of the
tribes. A vast mounted force is assembled below and all look
for the signal. Atilla raises himself in the saddle and
swings his jewelled sword over his head and a great shout
goes up. The groups of Horsemen charge away toward the
walled town and soon the whole plain is filled with charging
warriors.
EXT. ALEX'S HOUSE - DAY
Alex comes busling through the front door with his scathel
over his arm, turns and locks the door. Alex walks quickly
to his car in the driveway and gets in. Alex backs into the
street and pulls away from the house. A dark car parked down
the street pulls out and follows Alex.

EXT. STREETS OF HOUSTON - DAY

the deserted street. Alex gets out of the car and looks back
up the street at the car and give a quick glance.

Fantastic!

ALEX
What the hell!
EXT. FURIOUS STORM - NIGHT
Lighting flashes through the heavy clouds to reveal a flying
chariot drawn by two white horses struggling through the
wild storm. The warrior in the chariot raises his shield and
sword fighting the elements. Swinging his sword cutting at

He did very well for himself.
ALEX
Well yeah can you imagine all the

CARRIE

Alex and Carrie start combing through the all items in the
sale and see desks, tables, hutches full of fine porcelain,
figurines, paintings, lamps and old ornate cabinets full of
books. Alex begins looking at the books through the glass
doors, then opens the cabinet and pulls a volume out and
looks through the book. Behind him through the door comes a
man dressed in a dark expensive suit and sunglasses. He is
severe looking with dark hair clean features. He walks
directly to a case full of books and begins looking through
them one by one but keeping a close eye on everyone around
him as he peruses the books. Alex notices him looking over
his shoulder and back to the books. As the stranger looks
back, their eyes meet and for a moment the stranger seems to
appraise Alex and then breaks off, goes back to the books.
Alex thinking that is very curious looks back to his book
and replaces it back on the shelf.
ALEX
Carrie come here and look a this
book case.
CARRIE
Yes this is nice. You think that
it will hold all your books?
ALEX
I think it will. Looks big enough.
CARRIE
I love the carvings on it and a
fantastic finish.
Alex sees the woman who looks to be conducting the sale
talking to the stranger who is asking questions. They finish
talking and she glances around the room and Alex catches her
attention and she comes over to them.
ALEX
Excuse me what is the price on
this bookcase?

WOMAN
Well lets see. It should be here
on the case somewhere.
ALEX
Who is that man you were talking
to?
WOMAN
He introduced himself as Lars
Mogul. I think that he's German…
The woman looks over the case and opens the door looking
inside.
WOMAN
Yes here it is. $650 dollars.
ALEX
650? Well… what do you think
Carrie?
CARRIE
I think that's a pretty good price
but the one over there is in
better shape and it is fifty
dollars less.
WOMAN
Oh well let me check and see what
I can do on the price. I'll be
right back.
Alex and Carrie watch her walk to the rear of the house.

ALEX
Did you see that guy over there?
CARRIE
Yeah the euro-criminal look.
ALEX
Yeah, said she thought he was a
German. Looks like a thug out of a
movie.
CARRIE
He sure is going through the
books. I wonder what he looking
for?
The Woman walks into the room and approaches Alex and Carrie
passing Lars who is quickly searching the books.
WOMAN
I can match the price of the other
book case for $600.
ALEX
Okay I want it. What we do with
the books?
WOMAN
The books come with the case.

ALEX
All these books?
WOMAN
Yes.
ALEX
Take a check?
EXT. OLD HOUSE
We see two men loading the bookcase wrapped in blankets into
the back of a pickup truck. they jump into the truck and
Alex and Carrie pull out into the street and the truck
follows them down the street.
INT. ALEX'S HOUSE
Alex's house is a Craftsmen style home and we see that the
book case has already found a spot in the living room. Alex
and Carrie are sitting on the couch admiring the bookcase.
CARRIE
600 what a deal.
ALEX
Yeah I can't wait to go through
the volumes.
Carrie gets up and walks across the room.
CARRIE
Cup of tea?
ALEX
How about some coffee?
CARRIE
It's your house!
Alex gets up and is looking over the bookcase as Carrie is
making coffee in the kitchen. He runs his hand over the
carving and then pulls open the door and starts to pull the
books out sorting them on the coffee table. Carrie comes in
carrying two mugs of coffee.
CARRIE
Here you go.
ALEX
Thanks sweet.
They begin look at the books.
CARRIE
So how are things at the University?
ALEX
I'm teaching a new course next
year, Medieval Literature. But I'm
glad I'm out for the summer.
CARRIE
Nice vacation. I'm stuck teaching
freshman Astromony again.
The evening wears on and Carrie finishes up her coffee. She
leans over gives Alex and long kiss. They lay back on the
couch and start necking. They lay in each others arms on the
couch and admire the bookcase.
CARRIE
I really need to get going. I
enjoyed the estate sale.
ALEX
Yeah it was fun.
CARRIE
Not to mention the books.
They walk together to the front door. Alex kisses her and
watches her walk out to the car. Carrie calls to Alex from
the car.
CARRIE
Night sweetie!
ALEX
Goodnight!
Alex closes the door and goes back into the living room.
INT. LIVING ROOM

Alex comes in and sits on the couch looking at the stacks of
books on the coffee table. He pours himself a bit of brandy
into his coffee cup from the bottle on the table and looks
up to the bookcase. He gets up with his cup to look closer
at the bookcase. Alex sipping his brandy admires the carved
of vines and fruit motif at the top of the case. Studying it
closely he notices a small part of the carved fruit that is
a little discolored. He sets his cup down on the coffee
table. He runs his hand across the wood ending up with
finger on the discolored grape in the carving. He presses it
there's a loud click and snap. He looks around at the side
of the case and finds nothing. He looks inside of the case.
There a secret panel has opened revealing a book hanging out
of the top the inside of the case. Alex pushes the secret
door open the rest of the way and gently pulls the book out
of its hiding place.
The book in his hands is an old bible heavily bound with
small stones mounted in each corner and ornate design on the
cover. He opens it and discovers it is a family bible. The
first few pages have recorded births and deaths written in a
foreign language that he doesn't recognise. As he looks down
the list he notices that the writing changes to English
toward the bottom of the page and last entry is "Dorde Ribar
death 1873". The bible is written in Latin. He carries the
book back to the couch and rests it on the coffee table and
peruses the book while sipping his brandy.
EXT. HOUSTON UNIVERSITY HISTORY DEPARTMENT
Alex walks along the sidewalk lined with trees to a stately
building. He passes through the door and we see the brass
plaque "History and Antiquities" he walks down the hall and
sticks his head into a office.

INT. OFFICE
ALEX
Morning. How are you today?
Looking up from the stack of papers on the desk is a older
man in his late 60's who looks very academic. His name is
Samuel Southworth.
SAM
Ah! Alex, how is our scholar this
morning?
ALEX
I'm excited. I have something here
I want you to look at.
Alex swings the backpack off his shoulder and zips it open
and removes the book that is wrapped in a cloth. He hands it
to Sam who carefully unwraps the book.
SAM
My goodness where in the world did
you find this? It's quite
beautiful.
ALEX
I bought this bookcase from a
estate sale in Galveston and when
I got it home I found a secret
compartment and this book was in
it.
SAM
Incredible!
Sam opens the volume and starts to look through the pages.
SAM
By the looks of it was printed in
the late 1600's in Germany. Yes,
definitely German. Interesting.
The names in the bible look to be
Slavic or maybe Hungarian. I
believe I would guess that they
are Hungarian. The cover is
exquisite. I believe that these
are moonstones mounted on the
corners. You'll have to do a
little research to the find the
exact date.
ALEX
So the entries in the front are
written in Hungarian?
SAM
I believe they are.
ALEX
What do you think of the family
history there in the front?

SAM
Yes, Dorde Ribar. Hand me that
book with the red cover on the
second shelf, will you?
ALEX
Galveston. A history?
SAM
I have a hunch about Mr.Ribar.
Yes, look here! Dorde Ribar is
"George Fisher" in Hungarian.
ALEX
I was wondering about that.
SAM
The bible is made of the finest
velum.
Sam while examining the book he flairs the pages and they
both grasp when a image is revealed that was painted on the
edges of the pages.
SAM
Fantastic!

ALEX
What the hell!
SAM
I have heard of it but never have
seen it first hand. Its called
fore edge painting and is a way of
having a hidden illustration on
the book. Strange but this
illustration is not a biblical
scene. The figure with the sword
pointing toward these five marks
and these three words.
ALEX
Can you read them?
SAM
I think that it says "Follow"
something but I don't know much
Latin. I bet that you could find
some help at the library.
ALEX
"Insisto suus mucro." Sounds like
Latin. Sam thanks for the help.
SAM
Can I borrow it for a while? I
would love to study it.
ALEX
I'm curious about the painting.
I'll let you borrow it later.
Thanks Sam.
SAM
You're quite welcome. Tell Carrie
I said "hello".
ALEX
I will.
EXT. DAY -WIDE PASTURE WITH DISTANCE MOUNTAINS - 488 A.D.
Three riders galloping across a grassy plain, one figure
leads the group with the others flanking on each side just
behind. The leader is riding a black stallion.

EXT. - DAY - FOOT OF THE MOUNTAINS
Our three riders are now in single file picking their way up
into the mountains following a small trail.
EXT. - DAY - CRAGGY ROCK CLIFF FACE WITH LARGE CAVE
A large cave is above the three riders. All three are
looking up at the cave that has a small wisp of smoke
drifting up out the roof of it.
ATILLA
What is the hermit's name?
ULDAN
He has no name. The people call
him "Hermit of the Rocks".

BLEDA
They say he can tell any man's
future. Brother is this the reason
for you seeking him.
ATILLA
You both stay here. I will speak
to the old man alone.
Atilla begins his climb up the mountain side to the cave.
Uldan and Bleda watch his progress standing in front of the
tethered horses. They see him reach the cave and pause then
he passes into the darkness.
INT. LARGE CAVE
Atilla enters and sees a small fire flickering deep in the
cave. He walks into the cave looking at the objects hanging
in strange collections from the walls of the cave. He gets
close enough to make out a figure hunched down by the fire
sitting still as a statue gazing into the fire. The hermit's
face is very wrinkled, old and ancient. Atilla approaches
him slowly and kneels before him.
ATILLA
Father, greetings.
The hermit continues to gaze into the fire not acknowledging
him.
ATILLA
Please Father, I come to ask what
you see in my future.
The hermit slowly looks to him as if seeing him at last.
HERMIT
Wood. Put more wood on my fire.
Atilla finds a few pieces of wood and adds them to the fire.
They both sit and watch as the fire begins to build. The
hermit in a trance like stare looks into the fire and speaks
in a grinding voice.
HERMIT
Oh King… I see you will be a
mighty conqueror, the master of
many nations. I see you attacking
many countries and destroying city
upon city, the defeated calling
you the "The Fear of the World".
You gather vast riches in gold and
jewels. Despite all your power and
wealth true love will destroy you.
Death will find you. Death will
find you in the arms of a woman.

Atilla listens in stunned silence slowly drawing away from
the old hermit like the hermit himself threatens his death.
Atilla drops some gold coins into a wooden bowl and slowly
backs away from the hermit cautiously.
INT. LIBRARY
Alex is sitting at a table piled with books. He has several
laying open on the table in front of him.
ALEX
Insisto suus mucro. "Follow his
sword"
Alex flexes the books pages and looks again at the words
there then he studies the five marks. Alex picks up his
phone and dials it.
ALEX
Hey, what are you doing? You want
to go have lunch with me? Yeah. I
have a surprise for you too. No
I'm not going to to tell you.
You're just going to have to wait.
Okay see you there.

EXT. TABLE ON THE STREET AT CAFE
Alex is sitting and waiting for Carrie to arrive. He is
watching the people walking down the street. He's looking
cool in his shades and sipping his ice tea. Carrie comes
walking up the sidewalk and when Alex sees her he waves at
her. She waves back and hurries over and plops down in her
chair.

CARRIE
Well…where is my surprise?
ALEX
Man, cut right to it. No kiss, no
"hello" just "where's my
surprise?"
CARRIE
Sorry.
Carrie gets up and plants a big kiss on him.
CARRIE
Okay…so..

Alex puts his bag on the table and pulls out the old book
holding it up for her to see.
CARRIE
Oh my god! Was that in the old
bookcase?
ALEX
In a secret compartment.
CARRIE
How did you find it?
ALEX
I was looking at it and I saw this
piece of the carving that looked
weird and I pressed it and the
compartment popped open but that's
not the good part. I took it over
to Sam to get his opinion and he
found this!

Alex shows her the fore edge painting.

CARRIE
(gasps)
It's beautiful.
Carrie draws the book closer looking at the image.
ALEX
What do you make of the five marks
that the sword is pointing at?
CARRIE
Yes.. Alex these marks could be a
constellation. It looks familar.
ALEX
Do you know which one?
CARRIE
I'm not sure. I'll have to do a
little research.

EXT. LATE AFTERNOON PASTURE - 489 A.D.

A shepherd is driving a small herd of cattle along a trail.
As the herd moves out into a wide field it joins a larger
herd and the shepherd gathers the herd together for the
night. The shepherd sees a large bull walking and as it
walks along there is a trail of blood coming off the hind
hoof. The shepherd curious follows the blood trail. He sees
the trail stop at what looks like the point of a stone
sticking up of the ground. The shepherd tries to pick it up
and pricks his finger on it. He pulls his knife from his
belt and starts to dig the dirt from around the point. He
soon discovers that it is a blade, he tugs it from the earth
and a sword of great length emerges from the ground. He
begins to clean the dirt form the blade and grip. He
excitedly reveals gold, jewels and a shining blade and
begins running back toward Atila's camp.
EXT. ATILA'S TENT
The warriors standing guard at Atilla's tent see the
shepherd running toward them.
WARRIOR
Stop who approaches our lord's tent!
SHEPHERD
I have found a sword. It must be a
King's sword.
WARRIOR
Give the blade to me and I will
see if it is his sword.
The shepherd hands the sword to the warrior and the warrior
carries the sword to the tent.
INT. ATILA'S TENT
The interior of the tent is dimly lit with oil lamps. Atilla
is sitting at a table on a camp stool with two officers
drinking wine.
WARRIOR
My lord, a shepherd has come to
the camp with a sword that he says
is yours.
ATILLA
Bring the sword to me.
The warrior brings the sword into the tent and hands the
blade to Atilla grip first. Atilla takes the sword and looks
at the pommel and rubs it. He eyes grow wide with shock as
he reveals that the pommel was studded with jewels. He
examines the rest of the sword. Standing up he brings the
blade into the light and the jewels sparkle in the light. He
realizes that this is the most magnificent blade he has ever
beheld.

ATILLA
Summon the Armorer!
INT. CLOSE UP OF TABLE TOP
Close up of a butter knife that is shining and glinting and
a hand appears and picks it up. The hand scoops some butter
with the knife and starts to scrape it over toast.
PULL BACK FROM THE BREAKFAST TABLE
Alex and Carrie are sitting at a outdoor cafe and are having
a nice breakfast. A waiter approaches with the coffee pot.
WAITER
More coffee?
ALEX
Yes, please.
CARRIE
What did you find out about the
book?
ALEX
(sipping coffee) MMm. Well the
stones are ruby, garnet and as Sam
thought moonstone. The clothes of
the figure look like they are from
around the fourth century and
definitely royalty or a leader of
some sort. The inscription in the
painting means "Follow the sword".
CARRIE
You have been busy. So have I, I
think that the sword is pointing
to a constellation called "Draco"
the dragon. It was named in
ancient times as the guardian of
the doorway of heaven. The north
star was believed to be the
doorway so Draco guarded the north
star. But the odd thing is that
the configuration of the
constellation can only be seen
from eastern europe.
ALEX
Eastern europe?
CARRIE
Yeah, that is the location that
the stars can be seen in this
formation. Draco looks different
from different positions on earth.
ALEX
I wonder why the figure would
pointing to that?

CARRIE
People have been navigating by the
north star for thousands of years.
ALEX
I wonder…
Alex flexs the pages of the book in the opposite direction
and he discovers another fore edge painting. The painting is
of a church and a star blazing just above the cross on the
tower.
CARRIE
My god, another one.
ALEX
Yeah but this one is a place..a
church.
EXT. NEAR THE RIVER RHEIN
The sun is rising over the tents of a great army. The smoke
from the nights fires are smoldering and hundreds of columns
of smoke curl into the morning air. In the center of the
camp stand the royal tents with warriors standing guard at
the corners. A young girl approaches the tent and is
carrying a plater of food, closely followed by Uldan. They
both step into the tent.
INT. OF ATILLA'S TENT

ATILLA
Uldan come and sit. Here girl.
The girl rests the plater between them and backs away.
ULDAN
Lord did you sleep?
ATILLA
Yes. I had a dream. A dream where
I was flying over the enemy with
this sword in hand and we were
victorius in the field.
ULDAN
I was told of the sword. What did
the Armour find?
ATILLA
I have never seen him so scared
when I put it in his hands. When I
finally commanded him to speak he
told me that this is the lost
sword of the God Mars.
ULDAN
(laughing)
It is of the finest craft and a
beautiful sword there is no doubt
but Lord…the sword of Mars?

ATILLA
The proof will be in battle. We
will cross the river and attack
Rhoen.
ULDAN
As you command Lord.
Uldan rises and leaves the tent to spread the word.
EXT. HILL TOP OVER LOOKING THE PLAIN OF BATTLE
Atilla sits his horse amidst his Commanders and Lords of the
tribes. A vast mounted force is assembled below and all look
for the signal. Atilla raises himself in the saddle and
swings his jewelled sword over his head and a great shout
goes up. The groups of Horsemen charge away toward the
walled town and soon the whole plain is filled with charging
warriors.
EXT. ALEX'S HOUSE - DAY
Alex comes busling through the front door with his scathel
over his arm, turns and locks the door. Alex walks quickly
to his car in the driveway and gets in. Alex backs into the
street and pulls away from the house. A dark car parked down
the street pulls out and follows Alex.

carving and then pulls open the door and starts to pull the
books out sorting them on the coffee table. Carrie comes in
carrying two mugs of coffee.
CARRIE
Here you go.
ALEX
Thanks sweet.
They begin look at the books.
CARRIE
So how are things at the University?
ALEX
I'm teaching a new course next
year, Medieval Literature. But I'm
glad I'm out for the summer.
CARRIE
Nice vacation. I'm stuck teaching
freshman Astromony again.
The evening wears on and Carrie finishes up her coffee. She
leans over gives Alex and long kiss. They lay back on the
couch and start necking. They lay in each others arms on the
couch and admire the bookcase.
CARRIE
I really need to get going. I
enjoyed the estate sale.
ALEX
Yeah it was fun.
CARRIE
Not to mention the books.
They walk together to the front door. Alex kisses her and
watches her walk out to the car. Carrie calls to Alex from
the car.
CARRIE
Night sweetie!
ALEX
Goodnight!
Alex closes the door and goes back into the living room.
INT. LIVING ROOM

Alex comes in and sits on the couch looking at the stacks of
books on the coffee table. He pours himself a bit of brandy
into his coffee cup from the bottle on the table and looks
up to the bookcase. He gets up with his cup to look closer
at the bookcase. Alex sipping his brandy admires the carved
of vines and fruit motif at the top of the case. Studying it
closely he notices a small part of the carved fruit that is
a little discolored. He sets his cup down on the coffee
table. He runs his hand across the wood ending up with
finger on the discolored grape in the carving. He presses it
there's a loud click and snap. He looks around at the side
of the case and finds nothing. He looks inside of the case.
There a secret panel has opened revealing a book hanging out
of the top the inside of the case. Alex pushes the secret
door open the rest of the way and gently pulls the book out
of its hiding place.
The book in his hands is an old bible heavily bound with
small stones mounted in each corner and ornate design on the
cover. He opens it and discovers it is a family bible. The
first few pages have recorded births and deaths written in a
foreign language that he doesn't recognise. As he looks down
the list he notices that the writing changes to English
toward the bottom of the page and last entry is "Dorde Ribar
death 1873". The bible is written in Latin. He carries the
book back to the couch and rests it on the coffee table and
peruses the book while sipping his brandy.
EXT. HOUSTON UNIVERSITY HISTORY DEPARTMENT
Alex walks along the sidewalk lined with trees to a stately
building. He passes through the door and we see the brass
plaque "History and Antiquities" he walks down the hall and
sticks his head into a office.

INT. OFFICE
ALEX
Morning. How are you today?
Looking up from the stack of papers on the desk is a older
man in his late 60's who looks very academic. His name is
Samuel Southworth.
SAM
Ah! Alex, how is our scholar this
morning?
ALEX
I'm excited. I have something here
I want you to look at.
Alex swings the backpack off his shoulder and zips it open
and removes the book that is wrapped in a cloth. He hands it
to Sam who carefully unwraps the book.
SAM
My goodness where in the world did
you find this? It's quite
beautiful.
ALEX
I bought this bookcase from a
estate sale in Galveston and when
I got it home I found a secret
compartment and this book was in
it.
SAM
Incredible!
Sam opens the volume and starts to look through the pages.
SAM
By the looks of it was printed in
the late 1600's in Germany. Yes,
definitely German. Interesting.
The names in the bible look to be
Slavic or maybe Hungarian. I
believe I would guess that they
are Hungarian. The cover is
exquisite. I believe that these
are moonstones mounted on the
corners. You'll have to do a
little research to the find the
exact date.
ALEX
So the entries in the front are
written in Hungarian?
SAM
I believe they are.
ALEX
What do you think of the family
history there in the front?

SAM
Yes, Dorde Ribar. Hand me that
book with the red cover on the
second shelf, will you?
ALEX
Galveston. A history?
SAM
I have a hunch about Mr.Ribar.
Yes, look here! Dorde Ribar is
"George Fisher" in Hungarian.
ALEX
I was wondering about that.
SAM
The bible is made of the finest
velum.
Sam while examining the book he flairs the pages and they
both grasp when a image is revealed that was painted on the
edges of the pages.
SAM
Fantastic!

ALEX
What the hell!
SAM
I have heard of it but never have
seen it first hand. Its called
fore edge painting and is a way of
having a hidden illustration on
the book. Strange but this
illustration is not a biblical
scene. The figure with the sword
pointing toward these five marks
and these three words.
ALEX
Can you read them?
SAM
I think that it says "Follow"
something but I don't know much
Latin. I bet that you could find
some help at the library.
ALEX
"Insisto suus mucro." Sounds like
Latin. Sam thanks for the help.
SAM
Can I borrow it for a while? I
would love to study it.
ALEX
I'm curious about the painting.
I'll let you borrow it later.
Thanks Sam.
SAM
You're quite welcome. Tell Carrie
I said "hello".
ALEX
I will.
EXT. DAY -WIDE PASTURE WITH DISTANCE MOUNTAINS - 488 A.D.
Three riders galloping across a grassy plain, one figure
leads the group with the others flanking on each side just
behind. The leader is riding a black stallion.

EXT. - DAY - FOOT OF THE MOUNTAINS
Our three riders are now in single file picking their way up
into the mountains following a small trail.
EXT. - DAY - CRAGGY ROCK CLIFF FACE WITH LARGE CAVE
A large cave is above the three riders. All three are
looking up at the cave that has a small wisp of smoke
drifting up out the roof of it.
ATILLA
What is the hermit's name?
ULDAN
He has no name. The people call
him "Hermit of the Rocks".

BLEDA
They say he can tell any man's
future. Brother is this the reason
for you seeking him.
ATILLA
You both stay here. I will speak
to the old man alone.
Atilla begins his climb up the mountain side to the cave.
Uldan and Bleda watch his progress standing in front of the
tethered horses. They see him reach the cave and pause then
he passes into the darkness.
INT. LARGE CAVE
Atilla enters and sees a small fire flickering deep in the
cave. He walks into the cave looking at the objects hanging
in strange collections from the walls of the cave. He gets
close enough to make out a figure hunched down by the fire
sitting still as a statue gazing into the fire. The hermit's
face is very wrinkled, old and ancient. Atilla approaches
him slowly and kneels before him.
ATILLA
Father, greetings.
The hermit continues to gaze into the fire not acknowledging
him.
ATILLA
Please Father, I come to ask what
you see in my future.
The hermit slowly looks to him as if seeing him at last.
HERMIT
Wood. Put more wood on my fire.
Atilla finds a few pieces of wood and adds them to the fire.
They both sit and watch as the fire begins to build. The
hermit in a trance like stare looks into the fire and speaks
in a grinding voice.
HERMIT
Oh King… I see you will be a
mighty conqueror, the master of
many nations. I see you attacking
many countries and destroying city
upon city, the defeated calling
you the "The Fear of the World".
You gather vast riches in gold and
jewels. Despite all your power and
wealth true love will destroy you.
Death will find you. Death will
find you in the arms of a woman.

Atilla listens in stunned silence slowly drawing away from
the old hermit like the hermit himself threatens his death.
Atilla drops some gold coins into a wooden bowl and slowly
backs away from the hermit cautiously.
INT. LIBRARY
Alex is sitting at a table piled with books. He has several
laying open on the table in front of him.
ALEX
Insisto suus mucro. "Follow his
sword"
Alex flexes the books pages and looks again at the words
there then he studies the five marks. Alex picks up his
phone and dials it.
ALEX
Hey, what are you doing? You want
to go have lunch with me? Yeah. I
have a surprise for you too. No
I'm not going to to tell you.
You're just going to have to wait.
Okay see you there.

EXT. TABLE ON THE STREET AT CAFE
Alex is sitting and waiting for Carrie to arrive. He is
watching the people walking down the street. He's looking
cool in his shades and sipping his ice tea. Carrie comes
walking up the sidewalk and when Alex sees her he waves at
her. She waves back and hurries over and plops down in her
chair.

CARRIE
Well…where is my surprise?
ALEX
Man, cut right to it. No kiss, no
"hello" just "where's my
surprise?"
CARRIE
Sorry.
Carrie gets up and plants a big kiss on him.
CARRIE
Okay…so..

Alex puts his bag on the table and pulls out the old book
holding it up for her to see.
CARRIE
Oh my god! Was that in the old
bookcase?
ALEX
In a secret compartment.
CARRIE
How did you find it?
ALEX
I was looking at it and I saw this
piece of the carving that looked
weird and I pressed it and the
compartment popped open but that's
not the good part. I took it over
to Sam to get his opinion and he
found this!

Alex shows her the fore edge painting.

CARRIE
(gasps)
It's beautiful.
Carrie draws the book closer looking at the image.
ALEX
What do you make of the five marks
that the sword is pointing at?
CARRIE
Yes.. Alex these marks could be a
constellation. It looks familar.
ALEX
Do you know which one?
CARRIE
I'm not sure. I'll have to do a
little research.

EXT. LATE AFTERNOON PASTURE - 489 A.D.

A shepherd is driving a small herd of cattle along a trail.
As the herd moves out into a wide field it joins a larger
herd and the shepherd gathers the herd together for the
night. The shepherd sees a large bull walking and as it
walks along there is a trail of blood coming off the hind
hoof. The shepherd curious follows the blood trail. He sees
the trail stop at what looks like the point of a stone
sticking up of the ground. The shepherd tries to pick it up
and pricks his finger on it. He pulls his knife from his
belt and starts to dig the dirt from around the point. He
soon discovers that it is a blade, he tugs it from the earth
and a sword of great length emerges from the ground. He
begins to clean the dirt form the blade and grip. He
excitedly reveals gold, jewels and a shining blade and
begins running back toward Atila's camp.
EXT. ATILA'S TENT
The warriors standing guard at Atilla's tent see the
shepherd running toward them.
WARRIOR
Stop who approaches our lord's tent!
SHEPHERD
I have found a sword. It must be a
King's sword.
WARRIOR
Give the blade to me and I will
see if it is his sword.
The shepherd hands the sword to the warrior and the warrior
carries the sword to the tent.
INT. ATILA'S TENT
The interior of the tent is dimly lit with oil lamps. Atilla
is sitting at a table on a camp stool with two officers
drinking wine.
WARRIOR
My lord, a shepherd has come to
the camp with a sword that he says
is yours.
ATILLA
Bring the sword to me.
The warrior brings the sword into the tent and hands the
blade to Atilla grip first. Atilla takes the sword and looks
at the pommel and rubs it. He eyes grow wide with shock as
he reveals that the pommel was studded with jewels. He
examines the rest of the sword. Standing up he brings the
blade into the light and the jewels sparkle in the light. He
realizes that this is the most magnificent blade he has ever
beheld.

ATILLA
Summon the Armorer!
INT. CLOSE UP OF TABLE TOP
Close up of a butter knife that is shining and glinting and
a hand appears and picks it up. The hand scoops some butter
with the knife and starts to scrape it over toast.
PULL BACK FROM THE BREAKFAST TABLE
Alex and Carrie are sitting at a outdoor cafe and are having
a nice breakfast. A waiter approaches with the coffee pot.
WAITER
More coffee?
ALEX
Yes, please.
CARRIE
What did you find out about the
book?
ALEX
(sipping coffee) MMm. Well the
stones are ruby, garnet and as Sam
thought moonstone. The clothes of
the figure look like they are from
around the fourth century and
definitely royalty or a leader of
some sort. The inscription in the
painting means "Follow the sword".
CARRIE
You have been busy. So have I, I
think that the sword is pointing
to a constellation called "Draco"
the dragon. It was named in
ancient times as the guardian of
the doorway of heaven. The north
star was believed to be the
doorway so Draco guarded the north
star. But the odd thing is that
the configuration of the
constellation can only be seen
from eastern europe.
ALEX
Eastern europe?
CARRIE
Yeah, that is the location that
the stars can be seen in this
formation. Draco looks different
from different positions on earth.
ALEX
I wonder why the figure would
pointing to that?

CARRIE
People have been navigating by the
north star for thousands of years.
ALEX
I wonder…
Alex flexs the pages of the book in the opposite direction
and he discovers another fore edge painting. The painting is
of a church and a star blazing just above the cross on the
tower.
CARRIE
My god, another one.
ALEX
Yeah but this one is a place..a
church.
EXT. NEAR THE RIVER RHEIN
The sun is rising over the tents of a great army. The smoke
from the nights fires are smoldering and hundreds of columns
of smoke curl into the morning air. In the center of the
camp stand the royal tents with warriors standing guard at
the corners. A young girl approaches the tent and is
carrying a plater of food, closely followed by Uldan. They
both step into the tent.
INT. OF ATILLA'S TENT

ATILLA
Uldan come and sit. Here girl.
The girl rests the plater between them and backs away.
ULDAN
Lord did you sleep?
ATILLA
Yes. I had a dream. A dream where
I was flying over the enemy with
this sword in hand and we were
victorius in the field.
ULDAN
I was told of the sword. What did
the Armour find?
ATILLA
I have never seen him so scared
when I put it in his hands. When I
finally commanded him to speak he
told me that this is the lost
sword of the God Mars.
ULDAN
(laughing)
It is of the finest craft and a
beautiful sword there is no doubt
but Lord…the sword of Mars?

ATILLA
The proof will be in battle. We
will cross the river and attack
Rhoen.
ULDAN
As you command Lord.
Uldan rises and leaves the tent to spread the word.
EXT. HILL TOP OVER LOOKING THE PLAIN OF BATTLE
Atilla sits his horse amidst his Commanders and Lords of the
tribes. A vast mounted force is assembled below and all look
for the signal. Atilla raises himself in the saddle and
swings his jewelled sword over his head and a great shout
goes up. The groups of Horsemen charge away toward the
walled town and soon the whole plain is filled with charging
warriors.
EXT. ALEX'S HOUSE - DAY
Alex comes busling through the front door with his scathel
over his arm, turns and locks the door. Alex walks quickly
to his car in the driveway and gets in. Alex backs into the
street and pulls away from the house. A dark car parked down
the street pulls out and follows Alex.

EXT. STREETS OF HOUSTON - DAY
Alex's blue Nova is making its way through traffic up one
street and down the next. His tail is staying just a couple
of cars behind him following every move. Alex turns into an
older area that filled with brick buildings. He pulls up in
front of a building and stops. The dark car stops as well up
the deserted street. Alex gets out of the car and looks back
up the street at the car and give a quick glance.
INT. OF SAMS APARTMENT
ALEX
Some asshole has been following me
all week. Like I can't see them.
SAM
What do they want?
ALEX
You got me.
SAM
This book of yours has certainly
kept me entertained. The
illustrations are very unusual and
beautifully done. If we look at
the this border here it shows the
Catholic army battling against the
Protestants. Yes, the 30 Years War
was afoot.
ALEX
30 Years war?

SAM
The 30 Years War was a religous
civil war that was going on in
Germany. When it looked like the
Catholics were going to win, the
Danes, Swedes and the French
joined in and defeated the
Austrian Hapsburg and the German
Princes. Germany was laid to waste
and half of its people were
killed. It took a good part of two
hundred years for them to fully
recover. But the real find was
this..
Alex leans over the table and closely looks at the page that
Sam is pointing at.
ALEX
Yeah looks cruder than the other work.
SAM
Yes, this is a page that was
illustrated later. I believe that
it is telling the story of Atilla
the Huns' life and death. Look,
this is showing Atilla laying in
has tomb surrounded by his
treasure. The Huns were buried
secretly with huge amounts of
plunder that they gathered during
the raids. Atilla must have been
buried with a varitable fortune in
gold. The legend also says that he
was buried with the sword of Mars.
ALEX
Could the fore page painting be a
clue to where he is buried? The
sword pointing to the stars and
all that?
SAM
My god if that is the case…if
you could find his resting place
it would a incredible find. Alex
you need to protect this book.
ALEX
Jesus, you think that is what
those jokers are after? They want
the book…. Oh shit.

I have heard of it but never have

What do they want?
ALEX
You got me.
SAM
This book of yours has certainly
kept me entertained. The
illustrations are very unusual and
beautifully done. If we look at
the this border here it shows the
Catholic army battling against the
Protestants. Yes, the 30 Years War
was afoot.
ALEX
30 Years war?

SAM
The 30 Years War was a religous
civil war that was going on in
Germany. When it looked like the
Catholics were going to win, the
Danes, Swedes and the French
joined in and defeated the
Austrian Hapsburg and the German
Princes. Germany was laid to waste
and half of its people were
killed. It took a good part of two
hundred years for them to fully
recover. But the real find was
this..
Alex leans over the table and closely looks at the page that
Sam is pointing at.
ALEX
Yeah looks cruder than the other work.
SAM
Yes, this is a page that was
illustrated later. I believe that
it is telling the story of Atilla
the Huns' life and death. Look,
this is showing Atilla laying in
has tomb surrounded by his
treasure. The Huns were buried
secretly with huge amounts of
plunder that they gathered during
the raids. Atilla must have been
buried with a varitable fortune in
gold. The legend also says that he
was buried with the sword of Mars.
ALEX
Could the fore page painting be a
clue to where he is buried? The
sword pointing to the stars and
all that?
SAM
My god if that is the case…if
you could find his resting place
it would a incredible find. Alex
you need to protect this book.
ALEX
Jesus, you think that is what
those jokers are after? They want
the book…. Oh shit.

To be continued….
