I was talking with a friend about Story Chip and he had all of the appropriate things to say; wonderful idea and all that, but there was no commitment in his voice to contribute. Later when we were talking about his son traveling 1500 miles to be in Texas for the holidays, I asked him if he had saved any of his stories for his son. He said no. I asked him if he was sorry that his dad never saved them for him. It was not many hours later that we had a new chip up on the site.
I felt pretty good about talking another contributor into participating until I realized that many of my students knew some of my stories better than my son does. I am sorry that I do not have my dad's chips. I wont be sorry that I did not leave mine for my grandsons.
Bricks and Boomers is about keeping promises to my children. They cannot know the 5 year old I was, but they can still tell the stories.
