When we were growing up, we heard the story of a great-great-grandfather who helped to found a small town in Pennsylvania. The story we heard was of a gentlemanly coin toss to decide which of the two business partners would have his name on the sign at the city limits. The internet has made it possible to search the history of Frackville for the stories that have been told for years. I have found several versions of the story over the years and was delighted to find the collected stories of Lorraine Stanton on line. Her descriptions and collected news clippings keep the oral history of the area alive and I am delighted to have included fresh perspectives that I gained from her site in my story of Dolly Daneker Haupt.
